Authorities have launched an investigation into the murder, working to identify those responsible.
According to reports from The Telegraph, Párraga was allegedly connected to Ecuadorian drug trafficker Leandro Norero, with her name appearing in text messages found on his phone.
These messages were discovered during Operation Metastasis, a probe aimed at uncovering criminals involved in corrupting Ecuadorian state officials.
Examination of Norero’s phone revealed photos of Párraga and the extravagant gifts he reportedly provided her.
The texts suggest that he had an extramarital relationship with the beauty queen.
According to reports, Norero mentioned to his associate Helive Ángulo: “If my wife comes across anything about her, I’m screwed.”
Párraga reportedly managed a sports apparel brand and an import business, which authorities are now investigating for potential ties to Norero, as per The Telegraph.
The beauty queen had never been charged with any crime, nor had she made any public statements regarding the case.
Norero died in a prison riot in 2022, and some of his known associates are currently facing charges in connection with Operation Metastasis, according to El Pais.
