A Netflix film is leaving viewers on edge from beginning to end.
We all know that Netflix boasts a catalog of hits, ranging from mainstream blockbusters and hidden gems to original films produced by the streaming service
From Hollywood films like Evil Dead Rise and The Little Things to Netflix originals such as The Irishman, viewers have an abundance of options at their fingertips.
Fans have now discovered a new thriller on Netflix that is making a significant impression on its viewers.
A reviewer on Rotten Tomatoes writes: “Intense survival film. Had me glued from beginning to end.”
“Perfect,” another agrees.
A third wrote: “Extremely captivating! Great storytelling from beginning to end. The acting was phenomenal; really makes you feel like you’re there. 10/10; truly a must see! So real! Wildly Stressful & hard to watch! Excellent!”
“Prepare to CRY!! What an amazing movie! I so recommend! great acting and emotional. Well done!” praises a fourth reviewer.
A final viewer adds: “I was absolutely captivated and thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Definitely one of the best movies I have seen in a while. It is very hard for me to find a movie I like. I lose interest very fast and my attention span is low, so for me to watch this movie without stopping or pausing says a lot. A lot of it has to do with the performance of Anna Castillo. Bravo, bravo.”
Directed by Albert Pintó, this Spanish-language survival thriller follows a pregnant woman named Mia as she flees a totalitarian country.
She must fight for her life after a violent storm sweeps the container she’s been hiding in overboard.
Now trapped, Mia gives birth and must fight to survive in order to save her baby.
It features Anna Castillo in the role of Mia, alongside Tamar Novas.
Since its debut on Netflix, the film has garnered immense popularity. Critics have lauded its tense atmosphere and its lasting impact on audiences.
However, some critics have noted that the plot can feel overly safe at times, as reflected in its 56% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Nevertheless, viewers have turned to social media to discuss the movie and express how anxious and nerve-wracking it was for them.
One viewer writes: “This movie on Netflix is intense af lord I’ve had like 10 heart attacks watching this damn movie.”
“Watched it yesterday. Stressed me out pretty good. Good stuff,” a viewer adds.
A third person shares: “The movie on Netflix gave me terrible anxiety from beginning to end…”
“That was THE most anxiety-filled, stress-inducing, rollercoaster of emotions I’ve ever felt watching a movie! Why would y’all make this?” someone else wrote.
A fifth commented: “This movie made me ball my f***ing eyes out,”
Some viewers have even speculated whether it’s based on a true story, but both director Albert Pintó and Castillo have dismissed this notion.
In an interview with Netflix, Pintó aimed for the film to feel ’tangible’ allowing viewers to deeply immerse themselves in Mia’s challenges.
Meanwhile, in an interview with ES Euro, Castillo elaborated that the film explores a ‘dystopian reality’ and the extreme measures someone would take to break free from it.
The actress told the outlet: “The people who die every day at sea are terrible. But this movie is not about that. I already did Mediterranean, which was a social drama that talked about Open Arms, and it is a dystopian reality.
“The totalitarian regime serves to put the character in context and understand what this girl is doing fleeing in the container.”
The film in question is titled Nowhere, and it is currently streaming on Netflix.
