Nella Rose, a contestant on “I’m A Celeb,” might be concerned that her flourishing career is at risk following a clash with Fred Siriex from “First Dates.”
In an exclusive conversation with the Daily Star, former campmate Nicola McLean shared her perspective. Nella left her fellow campmates surprised when she engaged in a heated argument with the chef, feeling that he had “disrespected” her by suggesting he could be her father.
Tragically, both of Nella’s parents have passed away, but a significant majority of viewers supported Fred, who promptly apologized for any unintentional offense.
Nicola expressed her dissatisfaction with the altercation, remarking: “I don’t want to add fuel to the fire, because she might come out and think ‘I’ve ruined my career’, but then you’ve got to learn that you can’t speak to people like that.”
“I’ve seen a lot of people saying she’s ‘cancelled’ but I don’t agree with all of that. But that’s what people like to do nowadays. I don’t agree with it, but it well and truly may have done some damage for her in the long-run.”
“She’s got the press but it seems to have backfired. But people do seem to forget about things quickly and it is very early on in the show, so if she’s lucky then viewers may forget about it, if she’s good from now on.”
Nicola implied that Nella may have engaged in the argument to ‘go viral’ , but she found the dispute itself to be “ridiculous” and regarded Nella’s behavior as “so rude.”
She went on: “Fred was an absolute gentleman saying to her, ‘If I have offended you, I am so sorry, but I never meant that at all’. If I offended someone, I would apologize, but then if they carried on speaking to me the way she was speaking, I’d have gone ‘Who the f*** are you talking to?’”
The star from the 2008 series went on to contend that the rest of the campmates should have intervened and provided support for Fred.
“But I’m more p***ed off that no one said anything. Why did no one get involved? Why didn’t Josie say something? Because that’s her sort of job on This Morning to lead interviews and stuff. She should’ve stepped in and said ‘Fred didn’t mean anything by that. He has apologized, so I would drop it if I was you, and you were really rude’,” Nicola continued.
“She was so aggressive when she said ‘You stay on your side of the camp. I’ll stay on mine’ and then calling him a ‘weirdo’, wow. I’m appalled at how she behaved. Yeah, she’s really let herself down because I loved her before.”
