Margot Robbie is set to become a mom for the first time!
The 34-year-old “Barbie” actress is expecting her first child with her husband, Tom Ackerley, as confirmed by multiple sources to PEOPLE.
The news came after paparazzi captured a photo of Robbie with what looked like a small baby bump while she was walking on a dock.
Tom Ackerley, also 34, is an English film producer, actor, and former assistant director. He co-founded the production company LuckyChap Entertainment with his wife.
The couple first met in 2013 on the set of the World War II drama “Suite Française,” where Robbie was acting and Ackerley was the assistant director.
In January 2014, according to Vogue, Robbie invited Ackerley, along with her childhood friend Sophia Kerr and Josey McNamara, to the UK premiere of “The Wolf of Wall Street.”
The four hit it off, and Robbie suggested they all move in together. They began renting a home in London, and in 2014, she and Ackerley started dating.
In a 2018 interview with The Guardian, Robbie shared: “We kept it a secret. Because we weren’t really taking it seriously. ‘Oh, whatever, we’re just mates, we’re just mates.’ And then, everyone found out.”
She noted that ‘shit hit the fan’ when their relationship became public because their friends were concerned it might ‘ruin our group.’
Robbie explained: “Our house turned into ‘The Jerry Springer Show’ for a moment there. But then the dust settled, and it was all good. And then it didn’t [ruin the group]. It was fine.”
In 2016, two years later, they married in a quiet ceremony in Bryon Bay, Australia, just four hours from her hometown of Dalby, without ever announcing their engagement.
Their production company has been behind some remarkable films, including “I, Tonya,” a movie about Tonya Harding who, in 1991, became the first American woman to land a triple axel in competition.
Just three years later, the sports world was rocked by scandal when her ex-husband plotted an attack on Nancy Kerrigan, another Olympic hopeful. This incident is one of the most notorious scandals in sports history.
They also collaborated on “Barbie” and the 2020 action comedy “Birds of Prey,” where Robbie played the role of Harley Quinn, a supervillain originally introduced in the Batman series.
