Haliey Welch, known as the ‘Hawk Tuah’ woman, has disclosed some of the most irritating aspects of her sudden viral fame.
Welch achieved the dubious distinction of becoming the latest sensation to sweep the internet after a video of her interviewed by YouTubers Tim and Dee TV gained widespread attention.
If you’ve spent any time online lately, you might recognize the moment where Welch is questioned about what ‘makes men go crazy.’
Her answer was memorable: “You gotta give it that hawk tuah,” accompanied by mimicking the action of spitting and adding, “Spit on that thang.”
She was alluding to a hypothetical situation in which a customer behaves rudely at a restaurant, and the most appropriate way for a chef to react to such disrespect, with ’that thang’ being the food.
If your thoughts lead elsewhere, that’s merely your imagination taking flight.
After initially disappearing from public view as her meme status escalated, Welch resurfaced to make a surprise appearance at country singer Zach Bryan’s concert in Nashville last week.
She also joined Brianna LaPaglia’s podcast to address some of the rumors circulating about her.
Now, the latest internet celebrity has taken to her Instagram to unveil some of the experiences she’s encountered since rising to fame.
“Going Viral Isn’t All Fun: The Challenges and Annoyances Revealed by a New Internet Star”
While going viral might seem desirable, it often comes with its own set of challenges and annoyances.
In a recent video posted to her Instagram, she described one particular daily hassle.
A common nuisance for many celebrities—the paparazzi—is also a problem for her.
“I have to convince my paw paw not to shoot the paparazzi outside our house every day,” she explained, noting, “Because they’ve been camped out here for like two weeks.”
You might wonder if photographers couldn’t find a better place to be.
Another point she made clear was regarding personal requests from her followers. “Stop asking me for the link in bio to my OnlyFans, I don’t have OnlyFans, there will never be an OnlyFans,” she firmly stated.
So, if you were eagerly waiting for such content, she suggests a different activity: go outside and touch some grass.
She also addressed the issue of ‘imposters and fake accounts,’ noting that currently, she only uses Snapchat and Instagram.
Despite these challenges, it’s not all negative. Welch mentioned that her rise to viral fame has boosted her confidence, even helping her perform ‘in front of 80,000 people with Zach Bryan.’
She joyfully shared that viral success allowed her to quit her day job. “I don’t have to eat Taco Bell all the time, but I’m gonna do it anyways,” she quipped.
Additionally, she revealed plans to launch a merchandise line, including hats featuring her popular catchphrase.
