There are some movies that we’ve been laughing at for a long time, and sometimes, it might not be the best idea to find them funny. That’s how many folks feel about the movie Tropic Thunder because it touches on a bunch of touchy topics.

The flick came out in 2008, and folks have been pretty tough on Ben Stiller and the movie for a few reasons. One thing is that Robert Downey Jr. did the blackface thing in the movie, and it also took some shots at certain groups and people with disabilities.

It’s kind of crazy that the movie’s been around for about 15 years, and fans are still buzzing about the issues they have with it. On the flip side, some folks hit up social media to express their love for the movie and throw shade at those trying to bring in cancel culture vibes.

Ben Stiller chimed in about the flick. Not only did he act in it, but he also wore the director’s hat, and he’s pretty stoked about how the comedy turned out.

The whole thing kicked off when someone hopped on Twitter and told him to cut it out with the apologies for making the movie. They were talking about how hilarious the flick is and how it’s even funnier now that cancel culture is coming for it.

Things went haywire when a screenshot of an old tweet claiming Ben Stiller had to say sorry for Tropic Thunder was shared.

Ultimately, Ben Stiller directly addressed the fan, stating: “I make no apologies for Tropic Thunder. Don’t know who told you that. It’s always been a controversial movie since when we opened. Proud of it and the work everyone did on it.”

People also talked about Shaun White saying sorry for dressing up as Simple Jack, the character with a disability in the movie. He apologized when someone suggested boycotting the movie.

Ben Stiller yet again responded, saying: “Actually Tropic Thunder was boycotted 10 years ago when it came out, and I apologized then. It was always meant to make fun of actors trying to do anything to win awards. I stand by my apology, the movie, Shaun White, And the great people and work of the @SpecialOlympics.”

Seems like this movie dodged the cancel culture bullet.
