You might be familiar with the ‘Hawk Tuah Girl,’ but do you know the creators behind the viral video?

You probably don’t, but they have now spoken out, demanding credit after ‘missing out’ on the fame.

The infamous video, featuring Haliey Welch, has been covered extensively, becoming a viral sensation worldwide.

For those just returning from a social media break, here’s a quick recap. Welch went viral on TikTok after responding to Tim & Dee TV’s question, “What’s one move in bed that makes a man go crazy every time?”

Her answer: “You gotta give ’em that ‘hawk tuah’ and spit on that thing, you get me?

Tim Dickerson, 25, and DeArius Marlow, 24, known as Tim & Dee, aren’t pleased that they haven’t received any credit for the viral hit.

Meanwhile, Welch has managed to trademark the phrase ‘Hawk Tuah’ for comedy and apparel purposes, reportedly with help from Shaq.

Speaking to The New York Times, Marlow expressed frustration: “At the end of the day, nobody would know who she was if we didn’t bring it to light and post it.”

“A lot of the audience who hadn’t seen us before think we grew off this one clip. People were treating it like we’re nobodies and didn’t already have a platform.”

Tim & Dee, the duo behind the viral video, often take to the streets to interview intoxicated party-goers. In Welch’s case, they visited Nashville’s Broadway.

Their questions range from X-rated inquiries to spontaneous, humorous comments.

During the same interview, Dickerson explained: “It’s mostly just jokes. We’re not pressuring anybody — we’re just capturing the vibe. That’s what we do best.”

The pair, who roomed together in college in Nashville, have been creating content on YouTube since 2021.

Although their work is not full-time—Dickerson is a day trader and football coach, while Marlow is a videographer—they have filed at least 50 copyright claims.

These claims stem from people removing Tim & Dee TV’s watermark and re-uploading their content.

Dickerson and Marlow emphasize their frustration with having their work stolen and not receiving proper credit.
