In recent months, we have heard a great deal from Michael J. Fox. Unfortunately, his health has deteriorated significantly, and he has openly acknowledged that he doesn’t have many years left to live.
When we think of Michael J. Fox, his iconic role in “Back to the Future” often comes to mind, as does his advocacy work for Parkinson’s disease.
However, there’s another aspect of his life that he’s known for—his love for animals.
Michael J. Fox had a pet, Gus, a Labrador/Great Dane mix, who was 12 years old when he recently passed away.
For anyone who has a dog, it’s clear how vital they are during tough times.
Gus had been by Fox’s side for many years, providing companionship through his health struggles, and his loss has deeply affected Fox.
On social media, Michael J. Fox shared a heartfelt tribute, saying: “Gus — great dog and loyal friend, we’ll miss you.”
Fox also discussed the significant role Gus played in his struggle with Parkinson’s disease. While many of us have only observed from a distance, Gus was by his side every single day, experiencing the journey alongside him.
He explained how inspiring and comforting it was to have his dog with him. “You know that no matter your situation, no matter what you feel, this animal is with you and is connected to you. And you feel. It’s a force multiplier.”
