Garmin, a large producer of sports watches and trackers, recently announced the third version of its smartwatch aimed at children. The company has redesigned the Vivofit Jr. to resemble an actual smartwatch. Since it is solely for children, the watch has additional features that the traditional adult smartwatches lack. The device proves to be very useful and has its unique way to keep children active. The trick is that it uses a rewards system and has several games to keep the kids up-and-going.
Garmin Vivofit Jr. 3 – Unique features
One of the main extra features in this kiddie smartwatch is the ICE (In Case of Emergency). Upon facing any danger, clicking on the ICE widget will bring up the emergency contacts within seconds. The watch also features various activity modes and games to keep the children interested in fitness. Further, it tracks daily activities like sleep and steps. Parents can modify the chores and rewards mode. Since it has a more gamified edge, meeting goals will unlock more levels of a game inside the Garmin app. Garmin World Tour is a renowned game, which unlocks fascinating new locations with fun facts, quizzes, and pictures. It displays a range of places from the Pyramids to the Great Barrier Reef. Moreover, parents are free to set playtime goals like normal goals. These goals benefit the kids as they get the stats and advantages of meeting the steps and distance goals. They can also assign chores and link them with rewards. Since the children don’t have a smartphone, the parents have the opportunity to monitor their child’s activities. Additionally, parents can also part-take in step goals under the family activity option.
Garmin Vivofit Jr. 3: Colors and Price
With the new design tweaks, the new model will be available in Marvel Iron Man, Marvel Black Panther, Disney Princess, and The Little Mermaid variants. If your child is not a fan of cartoons, the watches are also available in plain, bold colors like Digi Camo, Lilac Floral, and Blue Stars. Even though the smartwatches are meant for children, they have an adult-sized price-tag on them. All colors are available for US$79.99. Furthermore, the Marvel and Disney editions are limited to Target.
