JEE Mains candidate in Assam securing 99.8% marks is arrested for using a proxy in the exam. In Guwahati, Assam a candidate for the Joint Entrance Examinations (JEE) Mains was arrested on Wednesday. The grounds were alleged to use of an impersonator to take his exams in Assam and secure top marks.
JEE is an important exam concerning admissions for National level engineering colleges like IIT. The doctor father along with 3 partners was caught hold of in the JEE scam. The arrests are done post complaint lodged with police that candidate did not make it for the test scheduled on September 5.
The allegations were someone else took the exam at the center in Guwahati on his behalf. A person named Mitradev Sharma has filed the report on October 23. Sharma says the candidate securing 99.8 percent in JEE Mains Entrance Exam conducted for enrollment in Engineering colleges.
Fraud Insights from JEE Mains at Guwahati Center
The police made a special team for the investigation to pull out threads from the scam pulled. As the probe expanded five arrests were made. The police have not disclosed the role of three people caught hold of, other than father and son.
The candidate has agreed on the cheating fraud to a friend on call which was traced. The link between the friend and the one who filed the complaint is blurry. Mitradev Sharma says, the candidate did enter the allotted center in the Borjhar area but came out after biometric details with the invigilator’s assist. It is said someone else took the JEE entrance exam.
There are allegations of the role of a private coaching institute in Guwahati in the case. The police have reached out to the National Testing Agency, taking tests for the country. The police held information in relation to JEE Mains in order to move further with the fraud investigation. The candidate Neel Nakshatra Das with father who is a doctor Jyotirmoy Das were the names of father-son.
