Robert Redford, full name Charles Robert Redford Jr. was an actor, director, producer with numerous awards up his sleeve, and is also a founder of the Sundance Film Festival. He was born in California, US. In 2002, he was given an Academy Award for lifetime achievement, and Times Magazine put his name in the list of 100 most influential people in the world, in the year 2014. He is also a winner of the 2016, Presidential Medal Of Freedom.
Redford’s love for arts
He found interest in sports and arts when he was in school and was less attentive towards academics. He even studied painting because of his love for art. He got himself enrolled in Pratt Institute, Brooklyn.
Redford’s married life
In 1958, he married Lola Van Wagenen, at Lola’s granny’s place. Redford had four kids with Lola Wagenen and named them Shauna Jean Redford, Scott Anthony Redford, David James “Jamie” Redford, and Amy Hart Redford. Scott died after just two months of his birth, because of sudden infant death syndrome. However, things couldn’t last with Lola, so Redford separated from his wife in 1985. Later, Redford got married to Sibylle Szaggars in Hamburg, Germany. All his kids were into arts, Shauna Redford pursued painting as a career, James was a producer and writer, Amy is an actor, producer, and director just like her father.
Kyle talks about Jamie’s disease
James, 58 died because of bile-duct cancer in his liver, said his wife Kyle in The Salt Lake Tribune interview. As per Kyle, James’ cancer returned two years ago and it was discovered last year when he was waiting for a liver transplant. James has lived a life mostly associated with cancer. He had a struggle going on for 30 long years. His, wife said that they raised two beautiful kids and had a happy family, but now they are heartbroken. James has expressed his gratitude for the liver transplant he received in past. Due to this feeling, he decided to set up “Redford Center” a non-profit organization for environmental filmmaking. He used to raise funds and help people who needed organ donors. His wife said, that James was just finishing his documentary “Where the Past Begins,” when he died. Everyone speaks highly Of James, including Redford Center executive director Jill Tidman. In his Instagram post, he mentioned James and said that he was full of joy, and love. He thinks that James was a man with immense kindness, that wrapped everyone surrounding him.
