This peculiar group was thought to have originated from outer space due to their unique blue eyes, which were almond-shaped and had double lids. Additionally, they spoke a language that was not recognizable and their genetic makeup did not match that of any other known tribe.
In the early 1900s, a peculiar tale emerged from the Himalayan mountains. In 1938, a group of amateur archaeologists found remains of an ancient civilization with advanced knowledge of astronomy and timekeeping. They also found a secret chamber with an unknown metal cylinder and 7 bodies with unusual features.
According to amateur archaeologists, known as “Explorers,” they also discovered hieroglyphs on the walls that seemed to be a combination of ancient Chinese and a more primitive language.
The explorers also found sculptures carved into the walls that resembled the strange people they encountered. These sculptures depicted short, lanky figures with large heads and small bodies, which the explorers believed were called “Dropa.” This belief was based on graffiti they found on one of the sculptures.
The Explorers believed that the tribe may have fallen through a hole in the floor above, and suffocated because there were no other means of escape. They thought that the tribe was likely refugees, fleeing from another group that may have destroyed their homes or land, possibly due to war. The Explorers respectfully buried the bodies before departing and kept the discovery to themselves.
The mysterious Dropa people
The Bayan-Kara-Ula mountain range on the China-Tibet border is inhabited by the Ham and Dropa tribes, known for their distinct genotype. The Dropa and Ham tribes are notably small in stature, with an average height of 4’2″ and a weight of 60 pounds. Despite their size, they are characterized by their large eyes with blue pupils and oversized heads.
Given that humans cannot survive at such high altitudes without special equipment, researchers believed that the tribe must be of alien origin. This theory was supported by an old Chinese folktale, which mentions that strange-looking beings descended from the sky, but were rejected by society due to their unusual physical characteristics.
Western explorers in the last century found that the Dropa tribe, who have lived in the harsh ice and high altitude regions of the Himalayas near Tibet for thousands of years. According to an Associated Press report in November 1995, 120 “dwarf-like individuals” were discovered in the village of “Village of the Dwarfs” in Sichuan Province.

In 1962, a team of archaeologists led by Professor Tsum Um Nui deciphered inscriptions on the Dropa Discs. Despite the controversial claims in their translation, the team published their research. Professor Um Nui was subsequently forced to leave China and died shortly after. The Cultural Revolution caused much information to be lost, and little is known about the subsequent events.
Today, many enthusiasts argue that there is no evidence from the camp that contradicts the 1962 story or its translation. It would be unfair to assume that the story was fabricated or that the translation was a fraud. While the story may seem unlikely, it is not impossible and no one has yet been able to decipher an extraterrestrial language.

It’s possible that by 1962, when a team of specialists attempted to decipher them, the language used in the inscriptions had not yet been fully understood. However, it’s also unclear if the language had been deciphered earlier, between 1937 and 1962.
In 1962, Chinese scientists were able to make some sense of the inscriptions using modern technology and dating methods. Weathering and erosion could have been the reason for the initial difficulty in deciphering the language, which is not uncommon for ancient artifacts such as the Dropa Stones.
