Mom Turns To The Internet For Help After Discovering Strange Pile Of ‘Brown Bits’ At Home

Facebook, along with other social media sites, used to be the go-to spot for creating super-friendly community groups. Some of these groups focus on everyday but handy subjects, like ones about cleaning and homemaking! But these groups aren’t just about sharing tips and offering help. Occasionally, certain posts make the group go into a bit of a frenzy, trying to figure things out and showing extra concern for the person who posted it. In the “Homemaking Tips” group, Kelli Tarin shared a strange picture of a mysterious pile.

The initial post was made on August 10th, so it’s pretty recent. In the post, Tarin shared a picture featuring a messy pile on the floor that looks like fine dirt. Tarin is seeking help to identify what it is because she discovered two mysterious piles that she cleans up daily. What’s concerning is that both piles were in her daughter’s room, making it crucial for her to find out if it’s something to worry about. She mentions it happened quite suddenly after they moved into the rented house. Describing the nature of these piles, Tarin says they feel like shells but look like coffee grounds or ant beds.

The Mysterious Pile Becomes Even More Mysterious

The person who owns the house reached out to the online group, and the strange pile quickly became a sensation. The post gathered over 9,000 comments and received more than 440,000 reactions. Despite all the buzz, no one could definitively say what the mysterious piles were! Still, there were plenty of suggestions floating around. Check out the image below:

A bunch of folks thought it could be a nest of ants, and if so, this ant colony was really stubborn and hard to handle. On the other hand, some were convinced it was mouse droppings. And then, there were others who believed it might be termite droppings. With all these ideas swirling around, Tarin decided to bring in the experts for assistance. But here’s the kicker – after contacting two pest control companies, they both admitted that this was the first time they’d ever come across something as puzzling as these mysterious piles!

In later updates, Tarin shared that she made sure their daughter slept with her father until they cracked the mystery. She ruled out termites because their droppings aren’t crunchy or “seed-like” like what she found. Roaches were also dismissed since she thoroughly sprayed the place and never spotted any live ones indoors. At most, she’d come across a couple of dead roaches on rare occasions. Drawing from her childhood on a farm, she claimed to know what mouse droppings look like, and these didn’t match. The last suggestion was bats, but given her West Texas location, that seemed highly unlikely.

The Mystery Finally Gets Solved

She emphasized twice that she cleans the entire house every day and that this mysterious pile only shows up in her daughter’s room. According to her, it takes about two days at most for it to appear. In the last update before the solution, she mentioned that she contacted the landlords to come and take a look. Despite not having a complete answer from the group, Tarin expressed gratitude for their response. Their support helped her keep a positive vibe during a troubling situation.

In the end, the solution turned out to be quite unexpected. Someone in the comments suggested that a lavender bear owned by one of their kids might have burst. That idea clicked when Tarin recalled the pile of toys atop the mysterious mess included a lavender blush bear. She had thrown it away, thinking it was infested. After retracing her steps, she found the bear and, sure enough, it had a hole in it. When she took a peek inside, she discovered it contained the same stuff as the mysterious pile! I guess everything turned out okay in the end.
