Netflix holds the title as the world’s most popular streaming platform, with the largest number of subscribers and the highest monthly traffic.
The streaming giant keeps producing its own original content, and as of July, there are 157 original scripted drama and comedy shows available on the platform.
With such a wide range of options, it’s clear that Netflix has something for everyone to enjoy.
Recently, one particular series has grabbed the attention of viewers, reaching over 1.08 billion minutes of watch time on Netflix.
Fans are constantly praising this original series, which features an impressive, star-studded cast.
One viewer shared, “This show is amazing, I legit loved every second.”
Another fan added, “So many familiar faces. Every cast member is sheer perfection. So many twists & turns! Don’t trust anyone!”
“I’ve watched it three times!” commented a third fan.
Someone else chimed in, saying, “Ooh this one is a masterpiece for sure!”
The show was created by Jenna Bans, who also developed “The Family” and “Off The Map.”
In an interview with Variety, Bans explained her inspiration for the series: “I owed NBC a pilot, and I wanted to write something escapist and fun and chockfull of wish fulfilment and something that made my mom feel better about her life. It was a love letter to my mother.”
The cast includes well-known actors like Retta, famous for her role in “Parks and Recreation,” Mae Whitman from “The Duff,” and Christina Hendricks, known for her performances in “Mad Men” and “Drive.”
The series also features Manny Montana from “Graceland” and “Ironheart,” along with the legendary Matthew Lillard, who starred in “Scream” and “Scooby-Doo.”
This Netflix original has earned an 86% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 7.7/10 score on IMDb, proving that it has become a major success.
Critics are also singing the show’s praises. Debi Enker from The Age remarked, “The series’ pace is lively as the plot continually thickens. It also ponders the idea of what happens when people cross a line.”
Shirley Li from The Atlantic echoed this sentiment, saying, “Complicated antiheroes, audacious plotting, and inventive camerawork don’t often live outside of cable and streaming, and yet this show makes it work.”
Stephanie Chapman from Pop Culture Leftovers recommended, “Audiences should tune in sooner rather than later to watch this gem. Even with high expectations, they can still expect to be thoroughly entertained.”
The series’ plot is summarized as follows: “Three suburban moms orchestrate a local grocery store heist to escape financial ruin and establish independence — together.”
This crime-comedy showcases strong female leads, and creator Jenna Bans shared that pitching the idea to NBC was the easiest pitch she ever experienced.
She recalled, “When we pitched the show to NBC, it was all female executives: I’ve never had an easier pitch,” she laughed.
“I think I got three sentences in before one screamed, ‘We have to do this.’ It was the easiest time I’ve ever had. They just really got it right away, and they were really excited to do the show.”
The comedy series “Good Girls” aired for four seasons and gained a significant fan base, even receiving a Satellite Award nomination for its final season. However, despite its popularity, it was ultimately canceled.
Viewers are still left without an explanation for why the show was brought to an end.
