A sad video from Saturday night (September 14) shows Shakira suddenly leaving the stage after some fans seemed to try and film under her dress.
You’d think common sense would stop this, but it keeps happening, especially to famous people.
People often forget that celebrities are human too.
Luckily, this wasn’t a paid event to see Shakira perform, but good for her for standing up against such rude behavior.
The incident took place at the renowned LIV Miami nightclub in Florida, where the 47-year-old singer was debuting her upcoming single ‘Soltera,’ scheduled for release later this year.
Attendees recorded video of the uncomfortable moment.
In the footage, Shakira is seen wearing a gold sequin dress, performing her signature dance moves on a small stage.
While dancing in front of her fans—many of whom were filming her—Shakira noticed one camera angled too low.
She gestured to the person with the camera, signaling for them to focus on her face, showing she was uncomfortable.
A few moments later, she saw the same person trying to film under her dress again.
At that point, she grabbed her minidress from both the front and back and walked off stage, heading directly to the VIP section.
Fans quickly took to Twitter to show their support for Shakira.
One fan expressed frustration, saying: “Shakira can’t even enjoy and dance to her OWN song like??”
Another commented on the broader problem: “Why do creepy men ruin eVERYTHING.”
A third added, noting: “That’s truly disappointing behavior. Artists deserve respect and privacy, both on and off stage.”
“It’s crucial to ensure a safe environment for everyone.”
In Florida, filming under someone’s skirt isn’t just inappropriate—it’s illegal and considered a crime under voyeurism laws.
Legal expert Robert David Malove explains on his website:
“Florida Statute 810.145 makes it illegal to secretly record or broadcast someone in an intimate state for reasons of personal interest or sexual gratification.”
“Personal interest could include amusement, entertainment, profit, or degradation of the victim (such as ‘upskirting’ or installing a hidden camera in someone’s bedroom).”
“If your voyeurism offense included a phone, camera, or another imaging device to record the victim’s private areas, you would face enhanced criminal penalties.”
The team at LIV Miami told Page Six that the issue wasn’t with the fans but with members of Shakira’s own crew:
“It was actually [Shakira’s] photo and video team that she was trying to get to stop filming her while she was enjoying the moment with the crowd and fans.”
Last year, Shakira moved to Miami from Barcelona with her sons, Milan, 11, and Sasha, 9, following the end of her relationship with soccer star Gerard Pique.
The couple had been together for 11 years before announcing their breakup in 2022.
Pique, 37, later grabbed attention for his new relationship with Clara Chía Martí, who some say caused his breakup with Shakira.
Shakira fired back at her ex and his new girlfriend in her songs “TQG” and “BZRP Music Session #53,” both released last year.
Known for hits like “Whenever, Wherever,” Shakira, who has been linked to stars like Tom Cruise and Lewis Hamilton since her split, told Rolling Stone in their July-August 2024 issue that she’s not interested in dating right now.
She explained, “I’m not thinking about that. What space do I have for a man right now?”
However, she honestly admitted that she still has a soft spot for men despite her recent issues, calling it a bit of a dilemma.
“I shouldn’t like them with everything that’s happened to me, but imagine how much I like men that I still like them,” she confessed.
