Known for his outspoken opinions, the former Good Morning Britain host often sparks debates, whether it’s his frequent critiques of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle or his strong views on various social issues.
He’s also clashed with vegans in the past, and during one such moment, the TV personality caused quite a stir…
After watching the interview, many people took to social media to share their thoughts, with quite a few praising Morgan.
One person commented: “Oh wow, I used to dislike Piers Morgan but after this, my respect for him has reached stratospheric levels.”
Another viewer wrote: “Piers, you got me laughing.”
A third remarked: “I’m always 50/50 on love-hate for Piers but he’s hilarious here.”
Someone else chimed in: “Piers destroyed this guy and even he knows it. The look on his face during the entire interview is absolutely great.”
However, not everyone was impressed. One person wrote: “You are 60 years old – you should be embarrassed by that infantile display.”
Agreeing, another said: “Television content at its absolute worst. Have a word, Piers. How old are you, 12?”
The viral interview came after a number of protests organized by Animal Rebellion, a movement that uses peaceful civil disobedience to push for a fair and sustainable plant-based food system.
The Guardian reported that in September 2022, over 100 members of Animal Rebellion disrupted the fresh milk supply in various parts of England.
According to Metro, the group claimed to have cleared out milk shelves in upscale grocery stores throughout the country.
Additionally, a lone protester also targeted Salt Bae’s London restaurant.
During the debate, Morgan invited Animal Rebellion spokesperson Nathan McGovern onto his Talk TV show, Piers Morgan Uncensored.
The former GMB host started by telling McGovern: “I think you all look pretty pasty-faced and unhealthy to me.”
He went on to say: “What I don’t do is I don’t go running into vegan restaurants and start screaming abuse at you all and have to be pulled out by people because you’re ruining everyone’s fun.”
In reply, McGovern noted that Morgan had kicked off the interview with an “absolute blinder” before discussing precision fermentation. This method, as explained by The Good Food Institute, uses microorganisms to create specific functional ingredients.
McGovern claimed that this technique can produce animal protein with a “fraction of the land” and “carbon footprint.”
Morgan interrupted with: “But I like eating meat.”
He then asked McGovern about his own diet. McGovern responded that he enjoys “seasonal British fruit and veg” and “supporting British farmers.”
As the discussion went on, Morgan told McGovern that “none of you make me want to change my mind,” and at that moment, a steak dinner was served to him.
Morgan stated: “Here’s my point, I love eating steak. I’m not going to stop eating steak. And the very last thing on earth that will stop me eating steak is people like you with your pasty faces running into our restaurants and telling us to stop eating steak.”
McGovern replied: “That is absolutely fine, Piers.”
To wrap up the debate, Morgan told the activist: “If you want to win an argument, you just can’t be annoying all the time.”
