Gary Sinise’s Son, Mac, Has Passed Away At 33 Years Old

Gary Sinise is recognized not only for his extensive acting portfolio but also for his roles as a director, producer, musician, and humanitarian.

Among his notable performances, Sinise is best known for portraying Lieutenant Dan Taylor in Forrest Gump (1994). Additionally, he graced the screen in films like Apollo 13 (1995), Ransom (1996), The Green Mile (1999), and Impostor (2001).

In recent times, Sinise has dedicated himself to the Gary Sinise Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides support and services to wounded military veterans.

McCanna Anthony Sinise, Gary Sinise’s son, was actively involved in his father’s charitable endeavors, contributing to the Gary Sinise Foundation alongside him.

Sadly, it has been confirmed that Mac Sinise has passed away at the young age of 33.

Mac, born in 1990, was the son of Gary Sinise and his wife, actress Moira Harris. He had two sisters, Sophie and Ella.

In 2018, the family faced a significant challenge when Harris received a diagnosis of stage 3 breast cancer.

Fortunately, Harris successfully battled the disease and continues to be cancer-free to this day.

Mac, a musician, completed his studies in songwriting and composition at the University of Southern California, in addition to his proficiency in drumming.

Earlier this year, just before his passing, Mac collaborated with fellow musicians to release his sole album, “Resurrection & Revival.”

Regrettably, Gary Sinise has made the heart-wrenching announcement of his son’s untimely death.

Gary Sinise's Son, Mac, Has Passed Away At 33 Years Old“Like any family experiencing such a loss, we are heartbroken and have been managing as best we can. As parents, it is so difficult losing a child,” Sinise writes on his charity’s page.

“My heart goes out to all who have suffered a similar loss, and to anyone who has lost a loved one. We’ve all experienced it in some way.”

“Over the years I have met so many families of our fallen heroes. It’s heartbreaking, and it’s just damn hard.”

The statement continues: “In sharing our story, we hope to shine a little bit of light on what has been a difficult time for us as Mac was truly a light for all of us.”

“Even with one setback after another, he never stopped living and learning, creating, and giving, and loving. He loved all our family.”

“His wonderful sisters, Sophie and Ella and their children, and while I worked hard to manage the day-to-day medical care, his beautiful mother Moira was his constant companion. He loved her so.”

“There are so many friends he loved and who loved him.”

Sinise reveals that Mac had been battling a rare form of cancer called Chordoma since August 2018, a mere two months after his mother’s own cancer diagnosis.

According Macmillan, “Chordoma is a type of primary bone cancer (also called bone sarcoma). Sarcomas are rare cancers that develop in the supporting tissues of the body. Supporting tissues include bone, cartilage, tendons, fat and muscle.”

As time progressed, his illness gradually rendered him more debilitated.

Our sympathies and thoughts are with the Sinise family during this difficult time.
