Rock ‘n’ roll legend David Crosby has apologized for an obtuse tweet he sent about the late Eddie Van Halen following the guitar god’s death at 65. On Saturday, the “Crosby Stills & Nash” co-founder was asked on Twitter to weigh in on Eddie Van Halen, who lost his battle with cancer at age 65 a few days earlier. David Crosby twitted that, “Meh”. Henrik Persson said that “I know you’re not into metal David, but what’s your opinion on Eddie van Halen?”.David Crosby said “Hendrix changed the world of guitar. Nobody else really …look I get it ..many of you loved Van Halen ….and the one time I met he was nice ….and he was talented …meh to me means I don’t care that much ….and I don’t …doesn’t mean he wasn’t good, he was but not for me”. “Yes you Van Halen fans I did just toss off an answer that was not cool …the even more embarrassing truth is. I didn’t even remember he had just died or I would have kept my mouth shut…I do make mistakes …no offense intended”.
Death of Eddie van:
Van Halen struggled with alcoholism and drug abuse. He began smoking and drinking at the age of 12, and he stated that he eventually needed alcohol to function. In 2012, Van Halen underwent emergency surgery for a severe bout of diverticulitis. He died from the illness at Saint John’s Health Center in Santa Monica, California on October 6, 2020, at the age of 65. On October 6, some of Eddie Van Halen’s childhood landmarks in Pasadena became memorials where fans could pay their respects to the guitar virtuoso.
As the music community continues to mourn the death of Eddie Van Halen, David Crosby, the granddaddy of rock and noted Twitter rapscallion, is apologizing for not being as delicate with remembrance as he should’ve been. Last week, Croz responded to a fan who asked for his opinion about Van Halen’s musicianship with a simple “meh,” doubling down in further tweets with the following: “Sorry, just meant he does not move me much. Look I get it, many of you loved Van Halen and the one time I met he was nice and he was talented.
