Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made their final split with the British Royal family and informed the Queen that they will not be returning as working members of the monarchy ever. The news was released by Buckingham Palace on Friday.
The statement from the Buckingham Palace
Harry and Meghan recently announced that they were expecting another child. The decision to never return to the royal family shocked the senior members of the monarchy. The Palace issued an official statement where they announced the young couple’s decision to never return as working members of the Family. They also added that this news was a sad affair but The Duke and Duchess remain much-loved members of the family.
Just days before Harry and Meghan are due to appear in an interview with Oprah Winfrey, the Palace said that the couple’s honorary military appointments and royal patronages would be returned to the Queen. A spokesperson who works for the young pair said that they both remained committed to service.
The young couple’s commitment to work
The spokesperson said that there has been enough evidence in their work over the past year, that The Duke and Duchess of Sussex had remained committed to their duty towards the U.K. and to the people around the world. They have offered continued support to the organizations they have represented regardless of their official roles and that shows their commitment and their generosity. The spokesperson further added that they want to live a life of service.
The Queen’s opinion
In response to a separate statement from the Palace that cited the Queen’s belief of how it was not possible for Meghan and Harry to continue with the responsibilities along with a life of public service, the couple responded by saying that service was universal and anyone can live a life of service if only they want to.
