Once-In-A-Lifetime Joy Caught on Video in Microchip Reunion for ‘Sam Sam the Kitty Cat Man’

If your beloved cat goes missing, suddenly, you realize your best ally in finding them again in such a big world is something smaller than a grain of rice. It’s a microchip, along with an up-to-date phone number and address. For example, the Charleston Animal Society shared an incredible microchip reunion for a cat called “Sam Sam The Kitty Cat Man.”

What makes this reunion even more wonderful is they shared the emotional moment Sam’s Mom arrived after missing her cute kitty for eleven years. It was a once-in-a-lifetime moment and such a joy to witness!

‘Sam Sam the Kitty Cat Man’

Imagine missing your cat for eleven years! That’s what happened to Jennifer Ravenel, who got the shock of a lifetime when the Charleston Animal Society called her. After over a decade, the information on Sam’s microchip still led to her.

At first, she thought the caller was playing a cruel joke. Surely, there was no way it was Sam! But this was for real. One day, Sam showed up at the shelter and finally, somebody had the chance to scan him for a chip.

“I’ve been telling everybody. You’re not going to believe what happened to me!” Jennifer said.

As one would expect, she was extremely excited and drove to the shelter immediately. As she walked into the room, Jennifer laid eyes on “Sam Sam the Kitty Cat Man,” and the tears started flowing. And she wasn’t the only one crying.

“There wasn’t a dry eye in the house,” shared the rescue.

Overjoyed staff applauded as she carried the kitty through the shelter. For sure, it was a once-in-a-lifetime moment! Did Sam Sam recognize her? We are certain he did, although he must have been wondering what in the world was happening after 11 years.

What stories could this kitty tell about over a decade somewhere away from home?

“Sam Sam the Kitty Cat Man! I’ve missed you so much,” said a tearful Jennifer.

With her long-lost kitty in her arms, she explained what happened all those years ago.

“And see, I searched and searched the woods. I asked everybody that lived around us and nobody saw him. But he’s a survivor,” she said.

If not for that microchip, Sam would never have seen his Mom again.

“I’ve been telling everyone all day. Regardless, microchip your animal,” she said. “Because you never know, eleven years!”

Thanks to Charleston Animal Society and Jennifer Ravenel for allowing us to share in the joy!

Miraculous Microchip Reunion for Sam Sam

It’s not clear how Sam Sam the Kitty Cat Man (It’s too fun saying his name.) made it out there for 11 years. Almost certainly, someone took him in. Life for a stray pampered house cat in the streets is extremely dangerous. If only Sam’s former guardians had checked him for a microchip, then this reunion may have happened much sooner. It’s a good reminder to have a stray cat scanned before you consider adopting them.

But eventually, Sam Sam found his way home to pick up where he left off.

“The miraculous reunion was only possible because Sam’s owner had him microchipped. Please microchip your pets because it can help you reunite with your lost animal!”

“Check with your vet to make sure your pet’s microchip is up to date. Every animal at Charleston Animal Society is microchipped before they’re adopted — just one of the ways we are keeping families together!”
