Life in foster care is a little like purrgatory, a wait that can last for years for many adult cats. All they want is for the right family to spot them, but unless they get a spotlight, they are often overlooked. It just takes a little light and for the right person to see it. As they say, there is a person for everyone, and there’s also a family for every cat; a family that fully appreciates the unique imperfections and quirks of a cat who has survived the hard knocks of life. Surely that’s true for a cat with a funny name, Purrjury.
Purrjury Waits in Purrgatory for 200+ Days
Purrjury, an imperfect tabby with Scottish Fold crinkled ears, waited over 200 days in purrgatory. She went to many adoption events, including one at a cat-themed boutique that goes by the ameowzing name of Purrgatory in San Diego. But as had happened repeatedly, the right family didn’t spot her that day.
Maybe the right family is you or someone you know in the San Diego area?

This kitty had a difficult background, to say the least, and yet she’s so loving with her rescuers at Smittens Rescue.
“Life hasn’t been kind to her, but you’d never be able to tell,” they said
A Quirky Mama Cat Rescued from Mexico
Purrjury was rescued from Mexico with her litter of kittens, who wonderfully all found furever homes. She was such a good mama. But after all she’d experienced, Purrjury wasn’t keen on being around other cats again. She only wanted to recapture her time as a happy kitten, which she’d been deprived of.
Here’s how the rescuers hilariously described Purrjury’s one-of-a-kind purrsonality:
“She’s got crinkled ears from an infection, half a tail (possibly from being pulled), a persistent UR, and a boss bitch attitude to match.”
Like many folks we know, Purrjury is a misanthrope with other cats; a sort of feline Honey Badger who doesn’t care for company. Can we blame her? Yet she’s sweet as pie with her guardians, so long as they bring the Churus.
“At the adoption center, she relished stealing the joy from other cats. She’d walk by a cat, steal their food and toys, hiss at them; then walk away. Purrjury doesn’t care.”

Imperfectly Purrfect Just the Way She Is
As we’ve seen many times, the right family will fully appreciate Purrjury’s relatable and funny qualities. As the wise know, our imperfections are what make us truly beautiful! After enduring life’s hardships, she’s imperfectly purrfect. Somebody out there will adore her for being exactly as she is, and she so deserves it.
Purrjury has:
- Never committed perjury
- Has half a tail
- Chronic congestion
- A persistent URI
- That ‘boss bitch’ cattitude
- Finds joy in stealing other cats’ food and toys
“Purrjury has RBF. She’s not mad, it’s just her face,” they shared.
Purrjury is Queen of the Churus
Given space to reign as Queen, she is delightful and loves to play. Like many cats on the streets, she never got to experience a carefree kittenhood of her own. Instead, she was thrust into being a mother and did her very best against all odds. Now, she’s making up for lost time.
Imagine being the family who gives her the future she deserves!
In return, you can expect the following:
-
She loves cuddles!
-
Plays fetch with her toys!
-
Enjoy ‘Magic carpet rides’
-
Loves quietly watching TV
-
Churu, Churu, Churu!
