Holding on to ‘Hope,’ a Cat Who Miraculously Survived After Her Home Burned to the Ground

Rescuers say it was miraculous that Hope, a 2-year-old white cat, survived while her home “completely burned down” in the Orlando, Florida, area. Somehow, the cat came out of the wreckage alive.

It was a kind neighbor who spotted her and held her until Animal Services arrived. Finding her badly burned, the officers moved quickly to take her to a veterinarian. But like the Fire Cats of Maui, fully healing may require therapy for many weeks or months.

“The home where the cat lived had been completely burned down, but somehow, this sweet cat had made it out alive,” shared Orange County Animal Services.

Knowing what lay ahead of her, the shelter staff gave her a hopeful name. But after surviving the fire, she’s so scared that she will need lots of time to learn to heal both inside and out. In that case, we’ve seen many cats that make a stunning transformation given the care and love they need. So, we’re hopeful she’ll be looking like a new cat and flashing those baby blue eyes of hers one day soon. We foresee a spectacular transfurmation!

Hope for Capturing One Family’s Heart

Orange County Animal Services shared that they are hopeful to find a family who will fall in love with Hope. Since she’s been through so much, she’ll need lots of patience in a quiet setting. Although understandably scared, they say she’s very sweet and gentle.

“For now, we’re keeping her in special housing to give her a chance to heal, both inside and out. We’re hoping that someone sees her, and comes to take her home. We’re hoping that she captures someone’s heart, and they’re willing to hold her and care for her while she recovers.”

“We’re holding on to Hope, because she’s made it through an incredible ordeal, and she is going to need patience, time and a lot of love. She is going to bear the scars of this traumatic event for a long time, so she is going to need the right person and the right heart.”

As we know, one good thing about social media is how it instantly connects people and pets!

“Let’s get her seen. Let’s get her home.”

In an update in the comments, we see that Hope has found a rescue where she’ll be rehabilitated long-term. Then, she’ll be ready to start a new future with a loving family. Although the details of the home fire aren’t stated, we know they did all they could to reunite Hope with her former family who loved her. Love and healing purrs to all involved.
