Picture waking up in a chilly, strange cage, with the only noise being the ticking of a clock that feels like it’s counting down your life.
This was Henry’s situation, a small, innocent kitten who was stuck in a pound, just hours away from a future he couldn’t even imagine.
Sadly, he was waiting to be euthanized, which often happens to many animals due to overcrowding or other circumstances. As the animal shelter shared in an interview:
“He had a matter of hours before his time was up but we swooped in and did what we do best; saved a life.”
But for Henry, a twist of fate was about to change everything. A caring foster volunteer named Adelle, who was part of the Cat Rescue team, learned about Henry’s situation.
She quickly made her way to the shelter, determined to save this sweet kitten from a terrible ending. As Adelle got closer to Henry’s cage, she noticed the fear and confusion on his little face.
It was a heartbreaking view, but she knew she had to move fast. With a gentle touch, she reached in and lifted Henry up, holding him close.
As they drove away from the pound, Adelle could feel Henry’s little heart racing against her chest. He was really scared, but she was sure he was safe now.
She made a promise to herself that she would do everything she could to help him find a loving family.
And let me tell you, this little guy really knew how to show his appreciation. When they got to Adelle’s house, she decided to let Henry explore the car, as she mentioned:
“When I arrived and safely parked at the meeting place for his foster carer I decided to let him roam (in the car) since he had had a very stressful morning and was meowing constantly in his cat carrier.”
He had been through so much, and she wanted him to feel calm and happy. The moment he was free, Henry jumped right onto Adelle’s lap and started purring loudly, his tiny tail wagging with joy.
Adelle couldn’t help but grin. Henry was such a sweet and loving little kitten. It was obvious he was super thankful to be safe. He gave Adelle lots of kisses and head nudges, showing his gratitude in the best way he knew.
Luckily, because he was such an adorable little guy, Henry found his forever home pretty quickly.
A caring family instantly fell for him when they first saw him, and they knew he was meant to be theirs.
Henry adjusted to his new life in no time, filled with love and care. Now, he was finally safe and joyful!
