It’s an adventurous life for Katya, who is traveling solo on her “Moto’ bike across Costa Rica. And home sweet home is sometimes a shipping container beside a volcano. When adventuring like this on your own, it’s often overwhelmingly lonely. She hoped to have some companionship when she took in a sick bird. Sadly, it passed away, and she was left alone again on her journey. But that’s when a new friend arrived out of nowhere, a tiny tabby kitten she named Sirena.
Sirena the Kitten Found Katya On a River Boat
Katya has seen all kinds of incredible sights along her adventures. One day, she was rafting the Pacuare River in a red boat when a 1-month-old kitten found her. From that moment, her whole life changed!

She was chosen, and the kitten stayed by her side from that moment on!
Finally, she had a travel companion that would forever be by her side. But at first, she was “stinky” and had a tick on her ear! It was nothing a warm bath couldn’t remedy, followed by wrapping the kitten in a towel like a “Purrito.”
As a stray kitten trying to make it in a real jungle, she also needed a vet, some eye drops, flea and anti-parasite medication. Thankfully, the kitten quickly overcame what ailed her and her belly got huge. She had begun the ridiculously cute potato with legs stage.
At a local vet, they verified she was healthy and “gordita.” Or maybe a Gordita Suprema?
A Born Adventure Kitten
Even when Katya went into the water, the kitten followed along. Since life with Katya is always a daily adventure, the kitten needed to learn how to hop and leap across river rocks. And, she did great, refusing to let her mom out of her sight.
“The cutest river rat you ever did see,” she shared.
When friendly stray dogs approached, they all followed along happily along the surf. Imagine spending your days basking in the sunshine with a little kitten. It sounds like the life to us!
When not in the water, Katya carries the born adventure kitten snugly in her backpack.
“I wear leopard print so my daughter feels more comfortable,” she shared.
Sirena and Katya are Ready for the World
One day, Sirena modeled her very own tiny bike helmet and chain, a tough biker girl ready to roll. Mama hand-crafted the purrfect size helmet out of a coconut husk. One has to appreciate every gift from nature when living this kind of free lifestyle.
What wild adventures will this duo get into next? The sky is the limit and it’s a big blue sky!
One thing is sure: Life changes so fast. Unfortunately, kittens grow up in the blink of an eye. But life will always better with an adventurous, furry companion by your side.
“Can you image how unstoppable she’s going to be when she’s full grown?” she asked.
As they continue to make the best of whatever life holds, Katya looked back on happy memories with her beloved kitten companion.
