Can you imagine the pain this family felt when their cat was nowhere to be found? However, I’m sure that their joy was twice as big as their grief once they finally reunited.
Every pet owner knows how heart-wrenching it is to say goodbye to a pet, but losing one is even harder. Your pet vanishes, and you spend days and nights wondering where they might be, whether they’re hurt, scared, or alive.
In a case like this, when your pet gets lost, and you start to lose hope of ever finding them again, it can be unbearable.
You’re left with so many questions about where your kitty might be or how they’re doing. But the important thing is to never lose hope! Just like this family did, they always hoped their beloved Kizzy would find her way home.
Kizzy Was Missing For Almost Two Years

Last year, Dean and Alison Lyng lost their 25-year-old cat. While searching high and low for their beloved furry friend for days, they began to lose hope.
However, in May, after a few months of sadness and a hopeless search, a malnourished elderly cat was discovered by a gutter. She was covered in fleas and lived off food scraps until Natasha McPhee rescued her.
Natasha brought the cat to a local shelter where they thought she was a stray since she didn’t have a microchip.

The cat’s nails were overgrown, making it difficult to move around, so the shelter took her in and provided her with all the veterinary care needed.

The shelter named her Moose, describing her as a blind old cat with a huge appetite. Even though Kizzy wasn’t microchipped, Natasha felt like she belonged to someone, so she posted the cat’s photo on Facebook.
“Do you recognize this cat?… I’m unsure if the cat is male or female as this baby gets very angry if I try and check. He/she is smothered in fleas, very old, lethargic, and severely underweight. Could be a missing baby. He/she isn’t microchipped. Please Share.”
Thanks to Natasha, Alison saw this Facebook post and immediately recognized her beloved Kizzy. She contacted Natasha, after which she posted an update happily saying how this cutie was a girl named Kizzy, and the owners had been found!
Kizzy And Dean’s Emotional Reunion
Alison and Dean couldn’t believe their eyes. After almost two years, their beloved feline friend was coming home again! You can feel their joy just by looking at the photos.
After Kizzy was treated for fleas and ticks, she was ready to go home. Once again, healthy and happy, her golden years will truly be golden. Isn’t it incredible how this senior kitty managed to survive in the outside world just to see her humans once again?
Kizzy was safely reunited with her family, and here we have a video of her and Dean hugging like never before! As soon as he picked her up, she recognized Dean’s scent and began to meow loudly. As Alison wrote in the caption:
“So happy! We picked up Kizzy this morning from the lovely Natasha McPhee at Animals Lost and Found. It took Kizzy a while to pick up on Dean’s scent as she is totally deaf now. But when she did she cried.”
Alison and Dean almost lost all hope of ever reuniting with their beloved feline friend, but still, a glimmer of hope remained, and their wish came true. As Alison said:
“It’s absolutely brilliant to see her again, but what are the chances? For two years, she’s been living with no home and no care. Most cats don’t get to that age indoors, let alone outside on their own.”
