Cher has been through a lot of issues in her life. Recently, she has discussed dealing with a lot of stress, especially after her public divorce and online haters bothering her at every turn.
She has also stated she might leave the country due to the possibility that Donald Trump may be elected president again. Her opinion is that Trump’s presidency would not be good for transgender people. She made her thoughts clear during an interview with the Guardian.
According to her, she almost got an ulcer the last time it happened, and she claims that this time around, she might even leave the country. “I almost got an ulcer the last time. If he gets in, who knows? This time I will leave the country.”
Her greatest concern is that trans people will face a lot of challenges with Trump at the helm. “Select told the publication it’s something like 500 bills they are trying to pass. I was with two trans girls the other night – and of course my own child [Chaz is trans]. I was saying ‘We’ve got to stand together.’ I don’t know what their eventual plan is for trans people. I don’t put anything past them.”
Cher has been very candid about her feelings for Trump, including calling him a traitor on Twitter. She has accused him of causing “so much damage” to the country.
Her motivations for leaving the country might have been inspired by a trip to Armenia. Her father is Armenian, and the visit there made her feel strongly about being there since everyone looked like her.
After visiting Armenia last year, she claimed: “When I got there, I thought, ‘Wow, everybody looks like me! How could I not have strong feelings about this.”
