It is the first major award for the series and the first prominent recognition for the young actress.
Anya’s reaction after winning
During her speech, Taylor Joy thanked everyone, especially mentioning the co-creator, writer, and director Scott Frank. She said that she was really grateful to him for making her a part of the journey and to entrust her with the character of Beth.
She also said that it was wonderful that everyone watched the show, and that she would love to work on this project again and again. She says that it has been a learning process and without the support of the audience it would not have been a success.
Her success that night
Taylor-Joy was a double nominee at this year’s Golden Globes. She was nominated for Beth’s role in the series “The Queen’s Gambit” and also for the film “Emma.” Sadly, she lost the film award to Rosamund Pike. Anya is the first Latina to win in this category. She was nominated alongside megastars like Cate Blanchett and Nicole Kidman. The Queen’s Gambit was nominated alongside Unorthodox, Small Axe, The Undoing, and Normal People.
