Supreme Court asked about Reservation

Supreme Court has raised its concern for how many generations this reservation continues in jobs and Education. As this criteria of reservation in India is one of the biggest problems which country is facing. Various citizens in the country are against this reservation criteria. The Supreme Court sought to know during the Maratha quota case hearing on Friday. The Supreme Court believes that this is resulting in inequality. However, in case the overall 50% limit was to be removed. There are various reservations for SC, ST, OBC in India. The Court has now asked that equality shall prevail in the country. There was a five-judge constitution bench which was headed by Justice Ashok Bhushan, senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, appearing in Maharashtra. They have asked about the judgment on capping the quota needed to re-look in changed circumstances.

Reservation criteria

The petitioner has argued that the provision for 12% reservation for Marathas in jobs and 13% in admissions would breach the ceiling of the 50% quota limit imposed by the Supreme Court in a landmark verdict in 1992. But now they could have asked to review this criterion and also urged it to re-examine the 50% ceiling on the reservation for economically and socially backward classes.

He has urged the court to re-examine the things. Also argued that this reservation needs to be changed and even relooked as the criteria in past few years have been changed a lot. On his question, the court has asked him if it can be said no member of BC had advanced over these years. Later the senior advocate has argued that still in India we are facing the problem of poverty and starvation. According to the source, it was found that the main matter what senior advocates said was that no cap on the reservation was prescribed in the Constitution and it was up to the government to make a decision.
