Today marks an important day for Bihar Politics as the Jharkhand High Court will give the verdict over the bail plea of Rashtriya Janta Dal (RJD) Supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav who is currently serving jail term in association with the much-talked fodder scam. Former Chief Minister of Bihar, Lalu Yadav, has filed bail petition on the grounds of having served for almost half on his 7 year imprisonment term. Whereas CBI is opposing the bail application. The bail petition will be put in front of the judge by Senior Advocate Kapil Sibbal. His son Tejwaswi Yadav interacted with reporters and said that he and his family is hopeful of Lalu’s bail today. Lalu’s supporters and RJD members have crowded near his house in hope of his bail.

CBI is opposing the bail plea of Lalu Prasad Yadav

Mr. Yadav is currently been accused of four different cases in the fodder scam. He has already been given bail in other three cases. If Lalu manages to get the bail from Jharkhand High Court today, he will come out of the jail. Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh of Jharkhand High Court will hear the bail plea of Lalu Prasad Yadav. However, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is opposing the bail by stating that Lalu Yadav has not completed the half of his jail term. During the last hearing, Court directed the CBI to produce documentary evidence in support of the aforesaid claim. If this time CBI does not produce the evidence, then Mr. Yadav will be granted bail by the Jharkhand High Court.

About the fodder scam that shook the Bihar Politics

To the unversed, fodder scam was one of the most talked about scam in Bihar. It was a corruption scandal involving alleged fraudulent reimbursement resulting into a loss of 9.4 billion rupees (which is equivalent to 39 billion dollars in 2019) to the Bihar Government Treasury. This scandal marked the end of Lalu Prasad Yadav’s term as Chief Minister of Bihar. Along with Lalu Prasad Yadav, Jagannath Mishra (former CM of Bihar) was also made accused of this fodder scam.
