The press release stated the His Royal Highness, The Duke of Edinburgh was admitted to the King Edward VII Hospital after feeling unwell on Tuesday Evening. A Royal source told the media that the Duke traveled to the hospital by his car, without an ambulance and it was not an emergency. The source also added that he walked himself into the hospital without any help and his illness is not anything Covid-19 related.
The reason behind his visit to the hospital
The Queen is still at the Windsor Castle, to the west of London, the source said. The Buckingham Palace press release added that the Duke’s admission to the hospital is a precautionary measure, on the advice of His Royal Highness’s Doctor, after feeling discomfort. The Duke is expected to remain in the hospital for a few days under observation and rest.
His life and health
Prince Philip stepped back from his public life in 2017. Due to his age, the Duke has been admitted to the hospital several times in the past few years. In December 2019, he was admitted to the hospital for treating some of his pre-existing conditions.
The Queen and Prince’s precautionary measures
The Queen and Prince Philip have spent most of the past year at Windsor Castle, having moved away from Buckingham Palace during the first wave of the Covid-19 pandemic in spring 2020. They both have been vaccinated during the first drive in January 2021. Wishes from all over the world have been pouring in for the safety and speedy recovery of the Duke. The advanced age of the Duke has taken a toll on his health in recent years, and we all hope that this does not turn out to be anything serious.
