The famous actor from the “That 70s Show”, Danny Masterson had pleaded not guilty to rape nearly 20 years ago. The star was arrested in June on the account of three separate rapes incidents that occurred between 2001 and 2003, according to the LA District Attorneys.
The charges against Danny
Masterton allegedly raped a 23-year-old in the winter of 2001 and a 28-year-old woman in April 2003. He also has a charge of raping another 23-year-old in the time of fall in 2003. The events are claimed to have occurred in his Hollywood Hills home. His lawyer says that he is innocent. He has said that he is confident that his client will be exonerated from all charges once all pieces of evidence come to light and witnesses are brought in to testify.
Danny’s family’s reaction
Danny and his family are shocked because a 20-year-old issue is being dug up now and charges are being filed, but they all believe that Danny is innocent and the allegations are false.
Their hearings were delayed owing to the inauguration in Washington of President-elect Joe Biden, resulting in far less media attention than his first court appearance. Prosecutors have stated that Masterson could face up to 45 years in prison if convicted.
The lawyer’s opinion
His lawyer, whose previous clients have been Michael Jackson and Bill Cosby stated that the charges were the result of unfair hyper from media outlets. Masterson’s arrest came after the #Metoo movement. Despite dozens of investigations, most of them have led to no charges because of the lack of evidence or too much time has been passed since the alleged sexual assaults.
