Telegram Allows Itself To Be Supported By Sir

The most recent beta version of Telegram has reportedly given access to and currently supports Siri’s “Announce Messages” feature on headphones. Telegram is the first ever third-party app to enable and make accessible Apple’s “Announce Messages” function which was first announced at WWDC 2020 sometime earlier this year, as confirmed by The 8-Bit. iPhone and iPad owners will now be able to use Siri to listen and reply to telegram’s messages. This feature has recently been permitted by Telegram’s beta app. This function is already supported and used by various other first-party apps from Apple, which include Home and Messages. But taking into consideration that the API is also available to all developers, it won’t take long for other third-party apps and services to encourage this new functionality in the future.

Siri Can Access The Messages Even When The Device Is Locked

With this update to Telegram beta on iOS and iPadOS, Apple’s virtual digital assistant will soon be able to read out and reply to incoming messages from the infamous messaging app even when the device- doesn’t matter if it is an iPad or iPhone- is locked. As usual, Siri will first play out a tune to notify the presence of a new message and will then proceed to read out the sender’s name and the message itself. Owners also have the option to respond to the incoming messages by using Siri. “Announce Messages” is only available to Telegram beta users; iPad and iPhone users can download Telegram’s beta programme via TestFlight. iOS 13.2 and later is also an essential characteristic which is needed for the feature to work on both iPhones and iPads.

“Announce Messages” Works Only Through Headphones

This feature will only work on Apple headphones such as the AirPods, AirPods Pro, Powerbeats, Powerbeats Pro and Beats Solo Pro. This function is yet to arrive on other apps on iOS, and we can expect the developers to embed it into the apps at some time in the future. Google Assistant- on the other hand- has the ability to read and reply to messages on Telegram, Slack and even WhatsApp. As of now, since there is no news of the function running on the stable version of the app, it is only available on the beta version of it.
