Harvey Weinstein, a sex offender was initially known for his film production. He was born in 1952 in America and he along with his brother Bob Weinstein co-founded “Miramax” a film production company. Miramax has labels like Shakespeare in Love (1998), Heavenly Creatures (1994), Flirting with Disaster (1996), and The Crying Game (1992) under its hood. He has won an academy for producing “Shakespeare in Love” (1998). Clearly, the work doesn’t speak for the human. Nobody can tell what a human is like just by looking at his creation. For some reason, Miramax didn’t make it to the end, so it was shut and Weinstein along with brother founded a mini-major film studio known as “The Weinstein Company”. However the company could only support itself for a period of 12 years.
Criminal charges and misconduct
Harvey Weinstein has been charged for a criminal sex act, sexual harassment, rape, and sexual misconduct, with a penalty of 23 years. He is currently awaiting a second trial in Los Angeles, California. In October 2017, he faced allegations because of his sexual misconduct and consequently was dismissed from The Weinstein Company. He was even shown the door by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. His behavior and work ethics were so repellant that his offense sparked a “Weinstein Effect”. By the end of October, we were known to the whole global community. He was seen as a threat to social harmony. More than 80 women had accused him of sexual abuse. The Weinstein effect had an offshoot called the #MeToo movement. It targeted all big and powerful names who misused their power to suppress women. Every name which was associated with some sort of mischief was under the scanner. He is now serving his sentence at Wende Correctional Facility.
2000 presidential debate and Harvey Weinstein
There has been a new lawsuit against Harvey Weinstein, in which a woman has made allegations that he raped her at his New York home. Jane Doe V has claimed that the producer started to look suspicious since Cannes Film Festival, 1984. The victim has mentioned it in the court papers that her then-boyfriend introduced her to the producer when she was only 19. And Harvey tried to keep his distance from her since he didn’t want to alarm her boyfriend. However, in 1992, things started to take a turn and Weinstein started taking interest in her career now that she was single. In 2000, Weinstein called her to his premises and asked her to watch the presidential debate with him. Jane has accused Weinstein of blocking her way when she was trying to go to the bathroom. As per Jane, the accused grabbed her, undid her clothes, and raped her. After this, Jane somehow freed herself and left.
