NBA Legend LeBron James recently acquired a beautiful villa in Beverly Hills for a whopping $36.75 million. Previously, Katherine Hepburn owned the property. James officially has his name on the property papers in September, though rumors about the deal started to fly in July. Before James, The Young and the Restless co-creator, Lee Phillip Bell, resided on the 2.5-acre property. Unfortunately, she breathed her last in February. The residence was first listed in April for $39 million, which means James was lucky enough to get approximately 6% off.

History of the lavish mansion

The talk-of-the-town villa has a lengthy history. Both famous and non-famous people acquired the property at some point. Charles Boyer, the Oscar-winning actor, first built it in the 1930s. Later, the Hollywood studio RKO pictures bought the property. The owner of RKO, Howard Hughes, further passed it on to Katherine Hepburn. After living there for most of her booming-career years, she eventually moved out. The home had unknown owners until Lee Phillip Bell and her husband William J. Bell swooped it in 1986 for $2.9 million.
