Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Deandre Ayton

After Game 5 of the 2020 NBA Finals, Jimmy Kimmel hosted a Generation Gap segment with Kareen Abdul-Jabbar and Deandre Ayton as his guests. After the Miami Heat faced the Los Angeles Lakers, Kimmel pitted Abdul-Kareen against Ayton in an interesting pop-culture quiz in which they had to identify photos of famous people from each other’s generation. It is safe to say that the top-of-the-line stars in the 1969 NBA draft and the 2018 NBA draft were almost clueless about each other’s generational sensations as they are on the court.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar v/s Deandre Ayton – Gameplay

As mentioned earlier, each of the legendary players had to identify photos of pop-culture sensations of the opposite generation. With every correct answer, they would get ten points. A twist to the game was that the other person could steal your guess if you didn’t know the right answer and get their 10 points. Both the players had their fair share of surprises and confusion. However, they got through it together. Abdul-Jabbar had to identify Billie Eilish, Robert Pattinson, Joe Exotic, and many more. Ayton had to answer about legends like Billie Holiday, Bela Lugosi, and Siegfried & Roy. In the end, Abdul-Jabbar scored 40 points against Ayton’s 20 points and won the feud.

Memorable and Jaw-dropping moments from the segment

Abdul-Jabbar stunned everyone when he correctly recognized Cardi B’s song WAP featuring Megan Thee Stallion. This moment was certainly a jaw-dropping one. Further, the generation gap was screaming in the segment when Ayton admitted that he did not know what do-wop music is. He even admitted to not hearing about Siegfried & Roy. Moving ahead in the segment, when Abdul-Jaffar saw Billie Eilish’s picture, he mistook her for Amy Winehouse. It wasn’t vague as the two do look similar after all!

The Virtual First Meet

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Deandre Ayton revealed that they had never met before until this virtual segment. Someday in the future, the two can meet, and maybe Ayton can pick-up some points from Abdul-Jabbar about the last 50 years as well as some basketball tips and tricks!
